![]() Now, having a car with the OnStar system is just as good.Īnd let’s talk about that little “K.I.T.T. There was no internet during the first show, so K.I.T.T. People take for granted how pervasive and common the internet has become in recent years. I mean, if you gave me a car with a wi-fi linkup to Google, Wikipedia, and YouTube, I’d have a car just as advanced as this one. Also, one has to realize that K.I.T.T., as a concept, really isn’t that hi-tech anymore. While a Mustang Cobra is a nice muscle car, it’s not sleek like the Trans-Am. ![]() ![]() But man, did they miss the mark.įirst off, let’s start with K.I.T.T. I mean, besides Hasselhoff himself, nobody wanted this to work more than I did. It's not really as bad as you might think.“Let me tell you something about 20 year olds, my friend: half of them are 16.” If you ever have a chance to see it, I recommend you watch it. If nothing else, it's good entertainment for 2 hours. However, as a television film, the acting is great, the plot is pretty interesting (imagine a world where handguns are banned, and crime is still a problem.do I hear sci-fi social commentary here?). Alas, it wasn't to be (at least not in this incarnation). A new car, new characters, and a new world to enforce. There was all the potential in the world for this to be the pilot of a new Knight Rider where we are out with the old and in with the new. But come on people, it was supposed to be an end and a new beginning. Edward Mulhare returns as Knight's mentor and boss, but alas his stay is short lived as well. And David Hasselhoff is wonderful in the role that made in famous, the lone rider of justice Michael Knight. Sure they only show Kitt as the new car for only the last half hour of the film, but it's worth it at least to see the world's most famous talking car in action again. Sure I was only 10 at the time, but I loved the show "Knight Rider," and I thought this was a nice little addition to its legacy. I watched this movie when it first came out back in '91, and I thought it was great. The movie then cuts into a commercial and then returns with Shawn telling Michael that she had "the techies look KITT over." The opening dialogue with Shawn admitting to Michael that she had him "pegged as a loser" when they first met was cut. After Devon is killed, Michael returns to the garage to say goodbye and punches Maddock. We see a brand new shot of the police cars speeding away from the camera. It takes place just before we see KITT speeding by the crane on the train tracks. The conversation in the prison regarding Watts is entirely cut, and the movie returns from the commercial break with KITT telling Michael that he is detecting some "company." That leads into an extra scene in the movie not seen in the NBC version. The scene where Shawn and Kurt interact in the locker room is cut. The movie returns with Michael on the side of the highway with KITT with Adam 2525 pulling up behind them. After Shawn finds out she was betrayed, the movie breaks into a commercial (same place where NBC originally cut for a commercial). When Shawn decided to drive Michael's Chevy, after she starts the engine, the movie cuts to a commercial and cuts out the banter between Michael and Shawn on the road as KITT takes them for the ride of their lives, and cuts to near the end where KITT almost crashes into a garbage truck. When KITT and the Knight 4000 square off, the second uttering of "ass" is blanked out. That's my agenda, what's yours?" The sound is restored as Michael enters the room. and I wanna nail the bastard that did it. In the scene where Maddock and Shawn are discussing agendas at her interview, the line goes "I was shot point-blank in the head-"at this second, the rest of the dialogue is blanked out, eliminating ".The movie picks up after a commercial break with KITT complaining of his new body. The conversation where Devon reveals the fact that police officers might be involved in the gun-running is cut. After KITT is reactivated, the movie cuts to a commercial, and then returns with Adam 2020, Kurt and Shawn's unit, already in pursuit to the robbery. In the garage scene, the movie blanks out the word "ass".Kurt drops her off at her apartment, she asks him to run a ballistics on the handgun, and it cuts to where Michael and Devon are speaking in the garage. Shawn's birthday party is entirely cut. When we first see Michael Knight, the movie immediately cuts to Michael walking down the dock, instead of showing him drive his boat to the dock.In the Sci-Fi Channel's airing of the movie, we see numerous edits and one addition from the original NBC version:
